In Blue Velvet, college student Jeffrey Beaumont (Kyle MacLachlan) returns home after his father has a stroke. When he discovers a severed ear in an abandoned field, Beaumont teams up with detective’s daughter Sandy Williams (Laura Dern) to solve the mystery. They believe beautiful lounge singer Dorothy Vallens (Isabella Rossellini) may be connected with the case. Jeffrey finds himself becoming drawn into Dorothy’s dark, twisted world, where he encounters sexually depraved psychopath Frank Booth (Dennis Hopper). Also starring Dean Stockwell, Hope Lange, Brad Dourif, and Jack Nance.
This 30th anniversary re-release presents Lynch’s masterpiece in a brilliant new DCP restoration and remastered sound, allowing the director’s gorgeous, twisted vision to shine as it never has before. And Cinema Detroit is the only place in the Metro Detroit area you can see it.
“Film revivals are always a gift for cinephiles. But when said revival involves a restoration of…Blue Velvet, that’s just a necessity….The chance to see a restored version on the big screen is an essential experience for anyone who is a fan of the movies.” — Indiewire
